I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio, TX with a Major in Psychology and a Minor in Sociology. Then I attended the University of Texas at San Antonio where I received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
I have attended the following workshops:
7 Habits of Highly Effective People
TEKS Resource System Training
Math Mentor workshop
Math Interactive Notebooks Workshop
I began teaching at BISD in 2005 where I have taught 1st and 2nd grade for one year. The rest of my time here has been in 4th grade Math. Currently, I teach 4th grade Math, Science, Social Studies, and Globaloria Coding.
Prior to coming to Beeville, I taught 5th grade in San Antonio. Prior to teaching I was the Assistant Director of Refugee Resettlement at Catholic Charities. Prior to that position I was a Crisis Intervention Manager at Catholic Charities. My work in Social Work has allowed me to be able to connect with people from other countries and to be able to assist them and their children as they journey through their new life. Using this knowledge, I try to connect and build a rapport with my parents and children so that together we can help our student succeed.
I have three adult children and three grandchildren. I don’t have any pets due to allergies but I love cats! I love being involved in my church, gardening, sewing, reading historical books, scouring through book stores, doing research, dancing, hanging out with my family and friends.
In my spare time, I love to do research on Genealogy. Currently, I am working on three family trees. I love reading all of the historical documents and visiting graves ,courthouses and churches to find the documents to back up my research. It’s taken many years to get to the point where I can now say that I have traced my line back to the 1650’s in the Canary Islands, Spain. My ancestors, under the leadership of Bernardo Galvez, under orders from the King of Spain, who was petitioned by George Washington for aid, made the first cattle drive to Louisiana to save the American Army from starvation during the American Revolution. The history of Texas, the establishment of the missions, the outgrowth of San Antonio from it’s mission status and its first leaders are all contributions my ancestors made. Simply Awesome!!!
